Keyboard Concertos

As Peter Wollny reminds us in the liner notes, Bach's piano concertos represent a group of innovative works of historical importance that mark the early beginnings of the piano concerto genre. It is therefore only logical that they have been included in the standard repertoire by pianists, some of whom have left us with points of reference, even though the more recent discography as a whole is somewhat limited. The young and talented pianist Gile Bae (born in the Netherlands, of Korean descent and closely connected to Italy) presents us with a new recording of the first five concerti in a project that is also a unique "Italian journey" of its kind, as each concerto was recorded at a different location in the Bel Paese, which Bach loved without ever having been there. Bae's fellow travelers on this project are the Archi di Santa Cecilia and their director Luigi Piovano, who with this album extend their successful collaboration with Arcana. The project is enriched by a bonus DVD featuring film footage of the recording of each piece.
