Klaviersonate h-moll

This is the twelfth recording by pianist Nelson Goerner for the label Alpha Classics. He dedicates his new album to the solo piano works of Franz Liszt, with the famous Sonata in B minor taking center stage. Nearly twenty years after his first CD with the sonata, he felt the urge to record it again following a series of highly acclaimed concerts. His talents as a storyteller and as a virtuoso with an eye for nuance come beautifully to the fore in this monumental work, a true 'musical action' that undoubtedly belongs in the pantheon of the most beautiful piano literature. The program is supplemented with fragments from Liszt's great cycles, including the Sonnets of Petrarca from the Années de pèlerinage and Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6 and the spectacular concert etude La leggierezza.
