Lebensfries by Icelandic composer Hafliði Hallgrímsson is coming soon, performed by the acclaimed Norwegian ensemble Ssens Trio. Lebensfries is written as a string trio for violin, viola and cello and is considered one of Hallgrímsson's most intimate and contemplative chamber music works. It is dedicated to Ssens Trio, which also commissioned the work. Lebensfries was composed in 2020 and bears the subtitle Homage to Lars Hertervig, a reference to the Norwegian Romantic painter whose life and work are marked by lyricism, fragility and inner intensity. Hallgrímsson translates that painterly inspiration into a musical landscape of long, unfolding lines and concentrated expressive details. In this way, he invites the listener into a meditative space in which time seems to stand still and memory plays a central role.
