This second part completes the project of the first recording of the complete Premier Livre de Sonates by Charles François Grégoire de la Ferté. The three musicians of the Vertuosa Compagnia de' Musici di Roma devoted nearly three years of their work to following Ferté, who was a violinist and violist at the court of Louis XIV. Little is known about the life of this composer, but the beauty and freshness of his only surviving cycle, these 12 sonatas, more than make up for it.
