Mendelssohn and Mendelssohnians

Pianist Christopher Howell launches a series in which he presents composers who are generally associated with the world of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy - always in connection with Mendelssohn's own songs without words. Paradoxically, the protagonists drew stylistically little from the master. Carl Reinecke was a student of Mendelssohn. He composed the Fantasia in the form of a Sonata op. 15 (1848) and a set of eight Ländler op. 152 (1879). In addition, the first two parts of the Lieder ohne Worte, the genre that Mendelssohn created and perfected.
