Leonardo García Alarcón presents and contrasts here two monumental works: a Messa Concertata by Giovanni Paolo Colonna, the choir director of the Basilica of San Petronio in Bologna, and the famous Dixit Dominus, which George Frideric Händel composed in Rome in 1707. A fascinating comparison between the first recording of a forgotten masterwork and the reinterpretation of one of the most brilliant works of young Händel, who was almost enchanted by his encounter with Italian Baroque.
