Bernhard Lang's Monadologie XXXVI is a radical 'metacomposition'. It deconstructs Chopin's Études op. 10 through detailed analysis, loops and virtual remixes – whereby the score is destroyed and reassembled into new sonic textures. The cycle consists of 12 etudes. The last three are dedicated to Daan Vandewalle, the internationally acclaimed pianist known for his mastery of 20th- and 21st-century repertoire, and who now presents them on this album.
