In 1392, King Karel VI of France was declared insane. In the midst of the Hundred Years' War, his repeated absences opened the field to princes hungry for power and money. Thus began three dark decades for the kingdom of France, torn apart by civil war between the Armagnacs and the Burgundians, wounded by the bloody defeat at Azincourt, and ultimately surrendered to the English crown in 1420...
