The Azrieli Music Prizes present their fifth album for Analekta, a celebration of outstanding musical compositions featuring four world premieres that spotlight the 2024 laureates. Jordan Nobles' kanata is a sonic and healing reflection on place, landscape and home, inspired by his travels through Canada. Josef Bardanashvili's choral fantasy Light to My Path draws inspiration from both his Georgian choral tradition and the Book of Psalms to explore different states of faith, from doubt to ecstasy and gratitude. Yair Klartag's The Parable of the Palace explores the famous parable by medieval Jewish philosopher Maimonides and creates a musical meditation on the limits of reason in explaining reality and our search for the divine, all sung in the original Judeo-Arabic. The album closes with Juan Trigo's Simetrías Prehispánicas, a tribute to the cultural history of his native Mexico, particularly Aztec culture and cosmology, through fragments from original texts in Spanish and Nahuatl by poets from the 15th century. The biennial Azrieli Music Prizes, founded in 2014 by Sharon Azrieli CQ for the Azrieli Foundation, discover, elevate and strengthen excellence in musical composition.
