That Johannes Pullois is so little known today among the Franco-Flemish composers of the 15th century is solely due to the fact that almost nothing is known about his life and work and that fewer than two dozen of his compositions have been preserved. The historical importance and the particular quality of these rare surviving works, however, quickly become apparent in the PASSACAILLE recording with the Sollazzo Ensemble. It is certainly worthwhile to examine this skilled music closely and listen to it attentively.
