The poet Henrik Ibsen and Edvard Grieg met each other in 1866 in Rome. At that time, Ibsen was working on the dramatic poem "Peer Gynt". He adapted it into a play and commissioned Grieg to write the music. The premiere took place in 1876. A few years later, Grieg used this music to create two purely orchestral suites, which are among the most well-known works of Romantic music - and finally a very colorful and atmospheric arrangement for piano four-hands. These versions, Grieg's piano concerto and the gem "Stilla" by Hjálmar Hegi Ragnarsson are combined on this CD.
