Organised Delirium

"Organised Delirium" is the personal exploration of the sonata form by pianist Tamara Stefanovich. She concentrates on the second piano sonata by Pierre Boulez, which she rehearsed in close collaboration with the composer and which breathed new life into her passion as an interpreter. Boulez' sonata stands for a reorganisation of music after its destruction in the Second World War. The pioneering work is combined with 20th-century sonatas by Hanns Eisler, Béla Bartók and Dmitri Sjostakovitsj, each of which question the use of the term 'sonata'. The programme ends with a return to the origins of the piano sonata with Domenico Scarlatti.
