Pacific Quartet Wenen

Their passion for the highest discipline of chamber music, the string quartet, prompted the four musicians to establish the multinational and now internationally renowned Pacific Quartet Vienna, which is based in both Vienna and Zurich. With its sensitive, warm sound, the quartet has since won over a growing audience throughout the world. The quartet's work is characterized by various focal points. The quartet regularly develops customized concert programs, for example for museums, with an emphasis on contemporary music. Since its founding, the quartet has been intensively engaged in the interpretation of works of Viennese classicism and also advocates for intercultural exchange projects between Europe (Switzerland/Austria) and Asia (Japan/Taiwan). Extensive tours have taken the ensemble to numerous countries and cultures. The quartet has also created a unique fairy-tale-like concert program that introduces children and adults to sounds, languages and philosophies from different cultures. Highlights of recent concert seasons included performances at the Musikverein (Vienna), the Wigmore Hall (London) and the Brucknerhaus Linz, as well as performances at renowned festivals such as the Styriarte (Graz), the Trame Sonore Mantova Chamber Music Festival, the Haydn Festival Burgenland, the Kalkalpen Festival and the Lucerne Festival. Multiple CD and radio recordings with the Austrian record label Gramola, the Austrian radio and television organization ORF and the Swiss radio and television organization SRF, as well as several successful tours to Italy, Japan and Taiwan complete the quartet's work. In 2015, Pacific Quartet Vienna won first prize, the audience prize and the prize for the best interpretation of a work by Joseph Haydn at the 6th International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna. The quartet also won the August Pickhardt Prize of the city of Basel in 2016 and the New Austrian Sound of Music Prize 2018/19 in 2017.
