The unique composer Marie Jaëll (1846-1925) made of the piano the perfect confidante for her inspiration. In her short pieces for four-hand piano, she manages to capture both the changing nature with its storms, scents and infinity as well as the tremors and fears of the human heart in the face of love or the fragility of life. Her two teachers, admirers and loyal friends Franz Liszt and Camille Saint-Saëns are also represented on this recording. On their first album for Cypres, the duo Orloff & Spinnler present a personality that is still too little known today. The influence of Marie Jaëll on piano lessons was considerable. Her research into "movement awareness and the development of sensitivity" led to the publication of various books that were groundbreaking at the time.
