Piano Variations and Waltzes

The figure of Paolina Capece Minutolo is highly representative of Neapolitan musical life around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Like all young women of aristocratic descent, she received an education in the liberal arts and showed a great preference for the study of music, proving herself a talented pianist. Between 1822 and 1824, between her 19th and 21st years, she wrote pieces for piano, for piano and harp, and also for piano, harp and natural horn. Capece Minutolo's work can be categorized as Biedermeier, but in Diego Cannizzaro's recording on the fortepiano it is clear that she was aware of Beethoven and Schubert.
