Pleasure & Excitement The pieces on this album - ranging in instrumentation from violin/piano duo to arrangements for solo instruments and orchestra - span a broad spectrum of Piazzolla's oeuvre. The piece Le grand Tango, written in Paris in 1982, is particularly important for violinist Rudens Turku. Originally for cello and piano, it is heard here in an arrangement for violin, cello and piano. The nearly eleven-minute work in one movement contains three interconnected sections. "To convey the spirit of the music and create joy and excitement among the musicians" was the intention of arranger Alexander Krampe with this and other pieces: This intention is communicated immediately and directly.
