Unique Style
History enjoys playing with labels to characterize lesser-known composers: "the Catholic Bach" (Zelenka), "the Spanish Mozart" (Arriaga) – and "the English Rachmaninoff," as the English pianist and composer York Bowen (1884–1961) was called. On PROSPERO, Nuron Mukumi presents, among other things, his 24 Präludien op. 102. This music fascinates immediately and is anything but a Rachmaninoff copy; it maintains a completely distinctive style. And one wonders: how could these works simply be forgotten?
