The extreme delicacy and finesse of Frédéric Chopin's piano playing was unusual at a time when star pianists such as Franz Liszt and Anton Rubinstein developed more virtuosic and experimental effects. This prompted some performers of that era to adapt Chopin's works to the context of their time. Goran Filipec traced the practices of these pianists to compile a program with works by Chopin in the spirit of the 'sublime style'. This approach preserves the spirit of Chopin's creative genius while offering valuable insight into the flexibility with which pianists of his time treated his works, as well as a new perspective on the ever-changing quest for musical authenticity. A digital EP with four bonus tracks is also available for streaming and download. Goran Filipec (* 1981 in Rijeka) is a pianist with fiery virtuosity and expressive piano playing, known for his exceptional interpretations of the Romantic repertoire, often performing his own arrangements and adaptations. Filipec studied under Naum Grubert and Natalia Trull at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at the State Conservatory of Tchaikovsky in Moscow. He also obtained a doctorate in music at Sorbonne Université and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse in Paris. Filipec's previous recordings have been highly praised by critics, and his albums "Paganini Studies" and "Hungarian Fantasy" were awarded the international "Grand Prix du Disque F. Liszt" by the Ferenc Liszt Society in Budapest.
