Alone in his workshop, the sculptor Pygmalion carves an image of incomparable beauty, with which he becomes passionately in love. Subsequently, he asks L'Amour (Love) to bring his creation to life and, moved by his pure devotion, she fulfills his wish. With Pygmalion, Rameau created his most beautiful opera-ballet, in which marble becomes incarnate beauty and the passionate quest for love finds expression. The version by Antoine Bailleux offers a fresh and new interpretation of the myth. Camille Delaforge and the ensemble Il Caravaggio deliver a brilliant performance that reveals all the suggestive power and refined elegance of Rameau's style.
