Scorrete lagrime mie, vloeien mijn tranen: tears of sorrow, of joy, devout tears, tears of longing, of betrayal, of death and of life. The spiritual and secular monodies from the 16th and 17th centuries are eminently suited to illustrating the vocal virtuosity of the trombone. The originally vocal compositions are also supplemented with instrumental works. Maximilien Brisson is accompanied here by Christophe Gauthier and Luc Beauséjour on organ and harpsichord, who contribute an equal and indispensable basso continuo.
