Sinfonia da Valencia

The award-winning composer Gregory Fritze has written more than one hundred compositions for various ensembles and is also a highly respected teacher. The four works on this album are programmatically similar. The city of London is evoked in a festive overture full of vitality, variety and splendor; the two symphonies reflect Fritze's immersion in the warmth, landscape and festive exuberance of the city Valencia; and the overture "Waterplace Park", a popular meeting place in Providence (Rhode Island, USA) is a cheerful piece with five unusual instrumental soloists. Gregory Fritze is an award-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar whose works have been performed more than one thousand times in 26 countries. He received more than 60 awards for his compositions and was chief conductor of the Boston Brass Ensemble for 14 years. In addition to his compositional success, he performed more than one thousand times as a musician and conductor in brass ensembles. Conductor Rafael Sanz-Espert was chief conductor in Bilbao, Madrid and Valencia and guest conductor on four continents.
