Ilya Gringolts, Francesco Corti

On the one hand there is Francesco Corti, one of the most internationally renowned harpsichordists and the lead performer of five highly praised albums on the Arcana label. On the other hand there is Ilya Gringolts, who makes his debut on the same label: a violinist of extraordinary versatility who focuses on contemporary music, but who is also inspired by a deep passion for the baroque repertoire and historically informed performance. Proof of this is his recording of Locatelli's Il labirinto armonico (2021), which was awarded the Diapason d'Or and was hailed by Gramophone as Editor's Choice. Two artistically different but complementary personalities, who have had a successful collaboration for years, take on a milestone in chamber music: the first great example of concertante sonatas for keyboard and melody instruments. The programme concludes with Tertia deficiens, a work by contemporary composer and baroque violinist Andrew McIntosh (GRAMMY nomination), written especially for this project to create an impressive bridge between present and past.
