200000 Love between orchestra and conductor with Romeo and Juliet Aziz Shokhakimov, a conductor from Tashkent (Uzbekistan), was honored in 2016 with the prestigious Salzburger Festspiele Young Conductors Award. In 2021, at the age of 32, he became music director in Strasbourg. His latest album is devoted to Prokofiev: "Shokhakimov's interpretation of this repertoire is truly exceptional," was the verdict of Seen and Heard International in 2022, when the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg performed Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 ("The Classical") and the two suites from Romeo and Juliet under his direction in his hometown. "My constant concern is that this orchestra has a distinctive sound that is easily recognizable," says Shokhakimov, "and that this sound is of the highest quality. Thanks to all the wonderful musicians, this is possible. Our collaboration is very productive and I always feel a strong chemistry with this orchestra, which I first met in 2014.
