Symphonies 1 & 3

Victor Bendix was a complex and central figure in the Danish music scene, but nevertheless a rather marginalized one. Although he was highly respected as a composer, pianist and conductor, he did not receive the attention he had hoped for.

The symphonies on this CD are considered his key works. While the first symphony "Ascension" represents his hopeful, ambitious debut, the third is characterized by resignation and fatalism.
