Besides Mario Del Monaco and Carlo Bergonzi, Franco Corelli is regarded as the greatest Italian tenor of the previous century. This edition of his recordings is mainly based on his early recordings for the Italian Cetra and contains a selection of great scenes from his repertoire, including an important live recording of Don Carlo in high quality, which Corelli never recorded in the studio.
