The Crown of Life continues the exploration of forgotten treasures of 20th-century English choral music by the choir of Queen's College Oxford under Owen Rees. The highlight is the first recording of Kenneth Leighton's Missa Christi (1988), the composer's last major sacred work, which was commissioned by Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis. There are also world premiere recordings of Harold Darke's Blessed is the man that enduth temptation and Imogen Holst's Out of your sleep arise and wake. Works by Rebecca Clarke and Gustav Holst round out the programme and offer a varied portrait of composers connected by their studies at Stanford and similar in their sacred style of expression
