The Hidden Galuppi

With *The Hidden Galuppi*, harpsichordist Alvise De Piero focuses on the lesser-known aspects of the oeuvre of Baldassare Galuppi, who was also called *Il Buranello* because of his birthplace Burano near Venice. The sonatas of the first part, which are based on manuscript sources, reveal the extraordinary versatility of a composer who, alongside Scarlatti, occupies a special place in Italian keyboard music of the 18th century. The recording, which contains several world premieres, sheds light on a versatile workshop of European harpsichord music.
