Kerson Leong, winner of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition 2010, and Jonathan Fournel, winner of the Grand Prix 2021 of the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, have both released different albums at Alpha Classics. As long-time musical partners and friends, they have now come together for a joint project around the music of Gabriel Faure: "His music evokes images of night, glistening water and comfort in me. He is one of the composers to whom I always return when I am looking for a sense of security," says Kerson Leong. Jonathan Fournel adds: "There is something deeply human in his music." They have chosen to record his two violin sonatas - works written at the opposite poles of his creative period - supplemented with a selection of transcriptions of famous melodies and smaller pieces such as the famous Berceuse, Clair de lune, Après un rêve and Soir.
