Nineteen years after his first recital devoted to the music of Alexander Scriabin, Jevgeni Soedbin returns to the works of this eccentric Russian composer with a new recital that brings together pieces from different phases of his career. Sudbin writes about his special bond with this composer: "I simply cannot think of another composer who consistently evokes such a primordial, raw and physical reaction in me, and over time his influence on me has only grown stronger." The programme, carefully curated by Sudbin, showcases Scriabin's stylistic development: from his early period, when he was still influenced by Chopin and focused on small forms, through his middle period, when the rich, late-romantic language began to transition into darker, more complex spheres, to his late period, in which, as Sudbin puts it, "one sometimes feels to be too close to the edge of madness." In his later works, Scriabin seems to push the music to its limits in order to create an atmosphere of spiritual ecstasy.
