When Monteverdi arrived in Venice in 1613, the tireless worker finally found a challenge that suited him: he composed daily both sacred and secular music in honour of God or his patrons. At the end of his life, he gathered his works into a corpus that was meant to serve as inspiration for musicians for church services. This cd is like a musical testament, an illustration of his carefully preserved life's work.
