At the table #1: I am a bastard With AT THE TABLE, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen launches a series of panel discussions in which the annual theme À la flamande is explored further. Writer and radio presenter Heleen Debruyne invites several experts each time around her proverbial table to discuss the social questions that our productions raise. Expect stimulating evenings with interesting guests, to whom you can also ask your own questions and concerns. At the table #1: I am a bastard As a prelude to the season, we talk about the (im)purity of Flemish identity. Who are the people who shape that identity? When and why is someone counted as belonging to the 'Flemish' or not? And to what extent does the population of the idealized (historical) Flanders resemble the current one?
