A hybrid performance between dinner and concert in which excess, desire and consumption are central. Music, text and scenography merge into a sensory and confrontational experience. Guests take their seats. There is cooking, serving, tasting. But soon something shifts. Desire overtakes hunger. One more bite. One more sip. When does more become too much? Eat Me plays with excess and seduction, with the thin line between choice and surrender. The text by Dominique De Groen, directed by Aïda Gabriëls, is bittersweet and sticky. Composer Jonathan Bonny lets baroque and electronics merge together, carried by B'Rock - a fixture at deSingel - and a strong cast of performers. Gabriëls moves effortlessly between music, image, movement and literature. In Eat Me, she starts from the cult film La Grande Bouffe and questions what consuming means today - sensory and confrontational. In the transparent arena of :mentalKLINIK, a hybrid experience emerges between dinner, concert and shared intoxication. Pick your poison. À ta santé.
