An auditory ritual where saxophones, electronics, drones and vocal mantras come together. Inspired by Tibetan sky burials, the performance reflects on mortality, ecology and the fragile bond between humans and nature. In བྱ་རྒོད། / VULTURES, composer and performer Jamie Man comes together with BL!NDMAN in an auditory ritual where life and death coexist. With drone speakers, vocal mantras, field recordings, animal sounds, saxophones and electronics, a meditative sonic world emerges. The work is inspired by Tibetan sky burial, in which bodies are entrusted to vultures. In this tradition, the dead become food for the living and their souls symbolically ascend with the birds - a transformation that connects humans and nature. VULTURES reflects on the vulnerability of humans and animals in a world marked by war, climate crises and migration. The performance is a musical wake for bodies lost in water, and reminds us of the fragile bond between life, death and nature.
