Violist, singer and composer Diamanda Dramm explores the boundary between voice and violin. With minimal means, she creates an intimate sonic world in which acoustic and electric violin, singing and electronics merge. Diamanda Dramm is among the most striking performers of contemporary music of her generation. As a violist, singer and composer, she constantly investigates the interplay between voice and violin. With CHIMP, she takes an important step in her own practice: never before has she written a composition of this scale. With minimal means - two violins, a small table, a lamp and some pedals - Dramm creates intense intimacy on stage. The acoustic violin forms the source, the voice carries the sound, and the electric violin opens new sonic possibilities. Her music moves effortlessly between worlds. Dramm is classically trained, knows the American avant-garde and contemporary new music from the inside, and is at the same time inspired by alternative pop. These diverse influences merge into a personal idiom that is at once direct, clear and enchanting.
