Dvorák's 5th Symphony

Vaughan Williams / Ginastera / Dvorák In Czechia they are quite proud of their musical godfather, Antonín Dvořák. With his Fifth Symphony, Dvořák discovered his own voice as a composer. In this pastoral symphony, Dvořák interweaves the energy of his beloved Slavic folk music with the grandeur of the classical tradition. Sound shadows of great heroes such as Beethoven and Wagner light up from time to time, but with the Fifth, the Bohemian master stamps his mark on symphony history like never before. The Andante is of an idyllic tonal beauty, while the Finale definitively fulfills all of Dvořák's symphonic ambitions. Chief conductor Duncan Ward and Philzuid go on a fraternal expedition with Dvořák. Moreover, they travel together with Belgian harpist Anneleen Lenaerts -principal harpist of the Wiener Philharmoniker- to the exotic Argentina of Alberto Ginastera.
