Bassist and performer Farida Amadou presents a two-day residency with a large ensemble and an improvisational project. West African influences, free improvisation and radical listening form an intense soundscape. This season, deSingel invites the versatile bassist and performer Farida Amadou for a two-day residency in April 2027. During this 'carte blanche' she presents different facets of her practice, with both a large ensemble and an open, improvisational collaboration. On the first evening, Amadou brings together her Kaleidoscope Ensemble - a group of long-term musical partners in which West African rhythms and melodies come together with a solid foundation of European free improvisation. The ensemble unfolds as a collective journey through the different backgrounds and virtuosity of the musicians. The second evening is dedicated to Radical Listening. With invited colleagues, Amadou lets the music emerge in real time: without a fixed setlist or roles, carried by deep attention and shared risk. Between groove, texture and charged silences, an intense and unpredictable soundscape emerges in which listening itself becomes the driving force.
