Hildebrandt Consort - Benefit Concert: The Rosary Sonatas

With the benefit concert The Rosary Sonatas, we open, together with the Hildebrandt Consort, the concert series of the 2026/27 season. The proceeds from ticket sales will be used entirely for the maintenance and preservation of the Sint-Rochuskapel in Mariadal via the Friends of Sint-Rochus. In this way, the music is not separate from the place in which it sounds, but also contributes to the continuation of this historical heritage. The programme is built around the so-called Rosary Sonatas, a monument within seventeenth-century violin literature. In this cycle, music is connected with meditation and quietness, not as illustration, but as its own, musically considered reflection. The sonatas move between restraint and expressive intensity, between simplicity and technical refinement, and invite attentive listening. In dialogue with this core repertoire, works by contemporaries are also placed, creating a broader musical context in which affinities and contrasts become audible. The combination of violin and organ gives this programme a special sound colour. The music unfolds not linearly, but as a series of moments in which atmosphere, character and inner movement are central. It is not a story that wants to be told, but a trajectory that you as a listener can follow at your own pace, with room for silence, resonance and personal meaning.
