In 1600 European musical life stands at a crossroads. The hinge to a new era marks a decisive turning point. During this summer course you experience the festival in full, with introductions, afternoon and evening concerts. Guido Marnef outlines the turbulent period 1580–1620, in which religious, cultural and political transformations reshaped the Low Countries. Sofie Taes highlights the maturity of polyphony, in which international styles, local trends and early baroque experiments come together. Including an extra lecture and four concerts.
