Sylvain Bergeron (“a supremely refined, elegant, cerebral musician” – Ottawa Citizen) is a master of the lute and plucked strings family of instruments, including the theorbo, archlute and baroque guitar. On this new ATMA recording, Mr. Bergeron performs a selection of lute pieces from The Doni Lute Book, a preserved manuscript compiled 1620-40 containing a large number of unique and never recorded pieces, including works by the great Andrea Falconieri, as well as Kapsberger, Lori, and Baglioni. Mr. Bergeron has participated on 70 recordings, including several prize and award winners.
