Hoe hoorde Mozart zijn eigen muziek thuis in Salzburg? Deze opname biedt het antwoord, want hij maakte hem niet alleen in het huis waar hij woonde, maar ook met het klavichord waarmee hij Die Zauberflöte , La Clemenza di Tito en het Requiem componeerde . Hoewel het klavier hetzelfde bereik van vijf octaven heeft als de fortepiano's die Mozart voor concerten gebruikte, beperkte het zwakkere geluid van het klavichord hem tot huiselijk gebruik, waar toevallig aanwezige familieleden of medewerkers hem konden horen. Bariton Georg Nigl en de vroege klavierspecialist Alexander Gergelyfi hebben een intiem programma samengesteld met aria's, ouvertures, cantates, liederen, fantasieën, rondo's en zelfs het aangrijpende Lacrimosa uit het Requiem. Dit unieke album laat ons Mozarts eigen huis in Salzburg binnenstappen, waar we naast een instrument kunnen zitten dat hij zelf bespeelde en kunnen luisteren naar twee uitzonderlijke uitvoerders, die beiden onherroepelijk gecharmeerd zijn van de genius loci.
