Sometimes you don't even know how to begin. And sometimes you don't even know what to do with your despair! Who would deny that female composers wrote wonderful music? But besides that, who would deny that many old white men in the music industry still believe in their own sexism, their own fear of some form of exposure or overturning of their twisted "concepts of masculinity" by actually claiming that women have always composed "worse" than men? Fact is: women compose better; simply because in the past they had to struggle much more just to be allowed to become a composer at all. Because those who have had to endure struggle and adversity are also more engaged with their respective art, experience a completely different kind of existentialist revelation and therefore remain in some sense composers and musicians throughout their lives. You don't fight your way through it for nothing!
On this album, a trio of three young people - a woman, two men - perform works by a woman. In fact, there should be nothing unusual about that. But the intense preoccupation of the Trio Orelon here with the works of Amy Beach also means: existential devotion. Complete dedication to five works by a woman who needs no rehabilitation, apology - nor "explanation." Because at some point the whole world will know it (and therefore won't need to talk about it anymore): Amy Beach was a fantastic composer. Let's get to know her!
