'The Twelve Cellists', it's quite a household name in the wider world and everyone immediately knows it's those twelve from the Berlin Philharmoniker. For unknown reasons, they have never performed as an ensemble on any stage in our country. Yet these 12 travel the world as veritable cello apostles to warm the general public to the cello and classical music. With success!
28 October 2026 will be something of a historic music date and not only Klassiek Centraal will be there, but hopefully you as a reader will manage to secure a seat in Studio 4 of Flagey in Brussels. The cellist ladies and gentlemen will treat you to a highly varied programme, not too serious classical music, there needs to be 'schwung' in it and after all it is about a very first meeting in person. It will be a mixture of various pieces arranged for the ensemble – the original compositions for 12 cellos are not exactly lying around ready to be picked up – and atmosphere is assured.
